We
are extremely excited to invite you to our much anticipated 3rd
Birthday Bash on the 5th March. As Del La Soul put it “3 is the magic
number”, so we are very excited to have made it to this grand old age;
enjoying all the mayhem, misbehaviour and misdemeanours with you lot
along the way!
Pseudo isn’t built upon a serious music policy, it’s more about the great party vibe that YOU, our dedicated Pseudo regulars
provide. However our DJ’s, as you know, ALWAYS deliver. This time, as
we know you love to glam it up big style, we're sure you will enjoy the
“Masquerade Mischief Ball” as much as you did the Lashes and Tashes
party: http://uk.tilllate.com/en/event/10430969
Masks and tail feathers at the ready........
Back
by popular demand and because we just can’t get enough of his tunes we
welcome back our firm favourite, Mr Neil Hinde (Lisa Marie Experience).
After rocking it alongside Dino at the last event, he has his own hard
(and brilliant) act to follow – no pressure then Neil! ;)
Supporting
Neil is Matt Lewis from Manchester. You may not know Matt but we
promise you won’t be disappointed with his undisputed selection of disco
/ house classics, old and new. This guy has a serious record
collection, and we can safely say has influenced our passion for house
music for many moons.
So, get the date in your smart phones..........it’s gonna be HEAVY.
Love Pseudo54.
Pseudo 54 - November 2010
Pseudo 54 welcomes winter with a blast from 2 of Sheffield’s finest......
Yes
boys and girls, we might be holding our party a week after bonfire
night, but don’t fret as there will be plenty of dance floor fireworks
to keep the disco inferno alive down at our beloved Penelopes this
November.
We all know how you pseuper Pseudo regulars love to
glam it up. So for November we are inviting you to flutter it up in
style with your most ...luscious
fake “lashes” in celebration. And don’t worry if lashes aren’t quite
your thing but you still want to get in on the facial furniture - feel
free to sport a “tash” (real or home grown!) to keep in the party
spirit.
Getting down to the science bit, we are happy to welcome
back two of our favourite all timers, playing back to back lashings and
tashings of your favourite house and disco rarities, old and new, all
night long. Get your hands in the air for....
Neil Hinde (Lisa Marie Experience)
Deano (Bed / Chuff Chuff)
As always expect that fantashtic, intimate vibe that we are renowned for.
We also have another little surprise up our sleeves but more on that later....... ;0
Get on the lash!!!!

Pseudo 54 - September 2010
PSEUDO 54 GOES BACK TO THE OLD SCHOOL......
Yes people, September is nearly upon us and what better way to ring in the new month than with a ‘back to school’ special?!
No,
we do not want you to dress up in school uniform and down alcopops like
they're going out of fashion……what we would like is for you to get your
glad rags on and be prepared to shake your asses to some classics old
and new, sound like a plan? ...
As ever we bring you quality DJ’s for your audible and danceable pleasure……let’s hear it for:
Mike O’Mara (Development, Manchester / Pseudo 54)
Sir Vinyl Instinct (Itchy Pig Records / Don’t Walk Boogie / DLS, Sheffield)
Our
main man Mike is no stranger to the Pseudo helm having played many
times for us before. He never fails to deliver some quality ‘bangers’
both in Sheffield and Manchester. We are very excited to have him back!
There’ll be no detention for him we’re sure!
Sir Vinyl is a newby
to the Pseudo decks but is by no means a stranger to the night. He
showed us what he was made of at our famous Mad Hatters Tea Party after
party earlier in the year and is now entering the main hall for assembly
number 2. You’ll be impressed……but what would I know?! ;)
As
usual it’s only a fiver out of your pocket money for this school trip
and be assured that the tuck shop in Penelopes will be well and truly
open for all your liquid refreshment needs!
Find a partner, line up in 2’s and we’ll see you down the front…….
Love P54 :)
Pseudo 54 - Tramlines 2010
Now that you’ve got the post
Glastonbury blues out of the way it’s time to get involved in
Sheffield’s very own TramLINES festival. And Pseudo is firmly on the
band wagon (or carnival float) straight after the official festival
launch party, the home of Pseudo 54 and our favourite club venue: the one
and only………… Penelopes!
Helping us kick start the festival vibe
and fresh back from his travels, showcasing his first ever Pseudo54
appearance we are happy to present no stranger to the Sheffield music
scene:
Lucian O’Neill (AKA The Colonel)
&
A Pseudo 54 original the magnificent Chris Feinmann (Resident / Development, Manchester)
Expect
all the usual (or unusual) shenanigans at Sheffields friendliest DISCO /
SOULFUL HOUSE affair. And with that intimate vibe that we’ve all grown
to know and love, we can’t wait to celebrate in true 54 style.
See you on the dance floor / toilet / bath ;)

Pseudo 54 - March 2010 - We are 2
There
is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and
danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter? we
are of course referring to Pseudoland.
When we took a trip down
to Penelope’s in March 2007 we didn’t know where the adventure would
take us. But after 2 years of barmy parties, hard slog, sleepless
weekends and after all the highs and lows, we have come to the end of a
chapter. In tu...rning
the page, onto the next, we are very pleased to announce our 2nd
birthday extravaganza. Mark on your calendars, in great big, fat felt
tip pen ‘Saturday 6th March’. THIS EVENT SHOULD NOT BE MISSED.

Cheshire cat, or gurn like a Tweedle Dum. Back by popular demand, based
on his last performance in November, we welcome back Mr Neil Hinde. Neil

ripping it up in world renown venues such as the Ministry Of Sound, Miss
Moneypenny’s, Mint Club in Leeds, Café Del Mar, Privilege and Es
Paradis in Ibiza, as well as doing guest slots down at Sawa in
Sheffield. An impressive CV, I’m sure you’ll agree.
Making his
long awaited 2nd appearance, we are very excited to introduce another
firm favourite and Sheffield legend, Mr Winston Hazel (AKA the Funk
Master General). Winston continues to tear up dance floors across the
world with his varied style spanning House, UK Garage, Tribal, 2step,
New Jazz, Futcha Discotek, Breaks, Loops and Hip Hop. As well as his
production outfits, Winnie continues to headline at many underground
basement parties in Sheffield including the infamous Kabal. Let’s get
ready for the sound of NEW YORKshire!

Pseudo 54 - November 2009
It's fireworks for November with our extra special line up to warm you
up on the dance floor with our Winter Bangers & Mash Up party!
As
always we bring you a diverse range of DJ talent to keep the
disco-inferno burning and our next event is no exception. We are very
proud to welcome two eagerly awaited guests to grace the Pseudo decks
for the very first time. And we promise it will be worth the wait.
With DJ’s ...ANDY NEWCOMBE (Discobox/The HPA, London)
NEIL HINDE (Lisa Marie Experience)
Please email or message for guest list.
As
usual the door price is only a fiver and we have a special little
something up our sleeves that we’re sure you will all be pleased
about.... But more on that nearer the time! ;)
Ok people, here comes the science bit.........
Andy Newcombe (Discobox/The HPA)
Andy
Newcombe is a long-term promoter and DJ who has created various parties
worldwide of varying flavours since 1991. He has had residencies in
London, Paris, Rome, New York and Tokyo and played alongside the likes
of Ashley Beedle, Norman Jay, DJ Milo (Wild Bunch), The Unabombers, Yam
Who? Domu, Simbad, DJ Nobu (Future Terror), Alex from Tokyo, and Faze
Action. Andy is now based in London and promotes a number of parties
including Dérive, Discobox, It’s All Good, and he is one third of the
recently formed Hackney Players Association.
This summer saw
Andy and the other Hackney Players Association members Leon Mayes (The
Off Key Hat/Dissident) and Toru (Vinyl Junkies) take up weekly residency
at their Dérive party in Hackney, East London. Armed with a vintage
1973 Bozak mixer, a beaten up ‘80s reggae rig and some serious vinyl the
H.P.A have bee rocking their super sounds for dancing every Friday
night. These sessions have honed Andy’s selection into a driving disco
sound circa ’76-’82 with tracks from the UK, US, Europe and South
America setting the dance floor alight.
Dérive guests so far
include Fabio Carniel (Disco Inn), Severino (HMD), Felix Dickinson
(Cynic), Toni Rossano (Strut/Blackbeard), Serge Jazzmate (Kiev), Pete
Herbert (Reverso 68), Black Shag (Beat Electric), Matt Waites
(Nightmoves), Des Morgan (Yam Who?), Christopher Tubbs and Piers Martin
(Cocadisco).
Discobox was borne out of Andy’s chance discovery of
an underground Disco mix by DJ Milo from the Wild Bunch charting
vintage underground New York neighbourhood party sounds from 1978 &
1979. Andy tracked down Milo in NYC and invited him over to launch
Discobox. The launch was selected as pick of the week in Time Out, The
Guide and The Independent and the foundations were set! Discobox is
Boogie and Disco classics, rarities re-edits and shiny new cuts played
on the finest sound systems! Past guests at Discobox are DJ Milo (Wild
Bunch), Unabombers, Bill Brewster, Leon Mayes (Off Key Hat), Ed &
Nick (Basement Boogaloo). Resident DJs are the mighty H.P.A.
Andy’s
other party is It’s All Good (formerly known as DIAL), which has been
running in London and New York for 8 years. It’s All Good is a mix of
many musical styles where DJs are encouraged to play across the board on
a good times party tip. Previous guests have included Ashley Beedle,
Simbad, Faze Action, Domu, Blackbeard, Karen P, Charlie Dark, and Dave
Jarvis to name a few.
Andy is producing under the name
Springwood Sessions, which is Disco influenced dance floor workouts.
Springwood Sessions current CDR, “One for the D” has already received
airplay on Bill Brewster’s Ministry of Sound radio show and DJ support
from Blackjoy and Yam Who?
‘This will be my first strictly vintage disco appearance in Sheffield. Very excited!!!’
Neil Hinde
Neil
has been Dj’ing for over 20 years and has had residencies at Republic
(Sheffield – pre Gatecrasher), Delux (Nottingham), Luxor (leicester),
Blue Note (Derby) and Orchis (Sheffield) whilst part of The Lisa Marie
Experience.
Neil formed LME in 1995 with Dean Marriott and in
1996 had a no. 7 hit with ‘Keep On Jumpin’. LME also reached no. 33 with
‘Do That To Me’ and no. 19 with ‘Move On Up’ by Trickster. On top of
this there were numerous remixes, some of which charted in the top 10.
Since
LME Neil has DJ’d all over the world in clubs such as Ministry Of
Sound, Gardening Club, Club UK and Camden Palace in London, Arena in
Middlesborough, Kool Cat in Nottingham, Miss Moneypennys and Wobble in
Birmingham, Mint Club in Leeds, Circus in Edinburgh, Progress in Derby,
Café Del Mar, Privilege and Es Paradis in Ibiza, Boom Club and C Club
(where he had a residency for 6 months) in Hong Kong, Park 97 in
Shanghai, Docklands, M1, Penthouse and Parkhouse in Germany, Gatecrasher
in Toronto, Firestone in Orlando and Youth Party in Moscow.
‘I’ll be playing a mixture of old stuff spanning the last 25 years that’s influenced me and new stuff that’s reight good!’
Its
business as usual for September with our “fall from grace” party to
ease you into the autumn months. As ever we bring you a diverse mix of
DJ talent. Our headliner Dan J is a veteran of the Sheffield music scene
and is a feature at many of Sheffields underground parties including
Don’t Walk Boogie, Kabal, Diasha and the legendary Scuba. Dans last set
at Pseudo is still being talked about and he never fails to deliver
innovative DJ sets.
We are also very excited to welcome our
first female DJ to the Pseudo family. Sarah Brooksbank is well known for
her music management background and was a key player behind the
Unabombers infamous Electrik Chair night in Manchester. Sarahs eclectic
taste incorporates a mixture of soul, funk, house and disco and
influences from her current career working with live bands such as
Detroit Social Club and Reverend and the Makers. Testament to her
talent, she has also played guest slots at Lights Down Low.
Septembers Pseudo promises, as always to be one for the diary, the memory banks and the disco calendar. Get involved!!
Pseudo 54 - Tramlines Fringe - Jamie Finlay Live
Firstly, we’d just like to thank everyone who made it down to our July
event. And instead of keeping you waiting for another two months we
have a one off special evening of live entertainment this Friday in
conjunction with the Tramlines festival.
Pseudo54 is very proud to introduce its very first live act Jamie Finlay with his band.
Jamie Finlay is a singer, songwriter, producer and DJ from Manchester and is being tipped as “...the
name to watch” this year, with his vocals being compared to the likes
of Prince and Al Green. Jamie's live show, with the man himself at the
helm has been tearing up venues across the UK having played at London´s
Jazz Cafe, Cargo and Pigalle Club
You may be familiar with Jamie’s
sound which is frequently spun by the likes of Mr Scruff and Giles
Peterson. Both have been plugging his releases on soul jazz label Wah
Wah 45’s including ‘Little Trumpet’ and 'I Am Love EP' which journeys
through soul, forward thinking club beats and spoken word. So no need
for Jamie to blow his own trumpet now he’s on one of the hottest labels
around.
And to complete the evening Pseudo54 residents Mike O Mara
and Chris Feinmann of Development Manchester will be spinning some
soulful house and disco vibes into the early hours.
This is gonna be something special and even better the event is totally FREE of charge so no excuses.
Doors open at 10pm and gig starts at 10.30
Club open till 3am
Pseudo 54 - July 2009

record selection ranging from upfront house music to disco classics, he
never fails to deliver!
And secondly, for his Pseudo54 debut we
welcome our favourite “man about town” Mr James Worrall. No stranger to
the Sheffield club scene, James has a pretty impressive DJing CV
including guest slots at Love to Be, Secret Sessions, the infamous
Maison events......blah blah blah. Need we say more!
Its gonna be the hottest party of the summer! With an intimate vibe, no wonder our regulars keep coming back again and again.

Pseudo 54 - 1st Birthday -March 2009
One year on we bring you the icing on
the cake with our very special birthday line up. And to celebrate we’ve
drafted in an eagerly awaited guest - Mr Dave Hardy. No stranger to the
Sheffield music scene, Dave is synonymous with hosting a number of very
credible soulful house events across Sheffield and beyond. We are very
privileged to join forces with this musical connoisseur and can’t wait
to see what “Dave the Rave” will pull out of his record bag.
Also
keeping the discotheque alive is our one of our all time favourites Mr
Matt Lewis. Jetting in from over the Pennines, Matts knowledge and
passion for disco and house music is unrivalled. And with a record
collection to match, Matt endeavours to bring us that New York sound
straight to the heart of Sheffield. We can’t wait!
Last but not
least we welcome Bren Tea to kick start the party atmosphere. A
committed Pseudo regular and a disciple of disco, we look forward to
hearing his debut set.
Pseudo 54 - November 2008
We
are very proud and pleased to present one of Sheffield’s finest home
grown DJ talents, Mr Winston Hazel (a.k.a the Funk Master General).
Winston has been doing his Ting since he could say “R8 Good”! His
influence can be heard throughout the northern music and club scene
since the late 70s including residencies at Sheffield’s infamous Scuba
nights, to parties in New York and Europe including the legendary
Electric Chair (RI...P)
and spearheading some of the first releases on Warp records. These days
Winston is better known for his love of underground basement parties
including Kabal and the former Lights Down Low. That’s why he’s a
welcome addition to the Pseudo 54 faithful. ‘Nough said!
Whipping
up the disco inferno is Manchester’s favourite turntable-ist and
producer of the latest live Pseudo mix………. Mr Mike O Mara. Warming up
alongside the likes of Mr Danny Tenaglia, Joe Clausell and Danny Krivit
this man knows how to keep it real, guarantying to bring you the very
best blend in soulful house and disco. He’s gonna get deep, down and
digital!
So if you’re ready for some Yorkshire rave action, see you on the 1st.
Pseudo 54 - September 2008
Now that festival season is coming to a close, ditch your wellies and roll ups and get your glad rags on for the next Pseudo 54.
Those
of you who made it down to the Summer Shindig will have been blown away
with explosive sets from one of Sheffield’s finest Mr Dan J and the
cream of Manchester’s soulful house scene, namely Mike O Mara and Daz
Lowe. The word from the crowd was this was our best party yet, with
stylish revellers who made the atmosphere electric on the night. Respect to the after party massive and the hostess – you know who you are!
Keen
not to disappoint we bring you a stellar line up on the 6th September
with a repeat performance from one of Sheffield favourites Dino. We were
so impressed by his previous performance we couldn’t wait to get him
back on the one’s and two’s. ON the night he’ll go head to head with
another Pseudo 54 veteran Kings of Disco Mr Chris Feinmann, of
Development Manchester. We are very lucky to have Chris who is taking
time out from his busy schedule and new residency at the new upstairs
club at Sankeys.
The two will battle it out in true Pseudo 54 style for what will be an unmissable showdown!
